Cloning a campaign
The campaign cloning feature allows ThruText admins to create new texting campaigns based on the parameters of previous active or archived campaigns. This feature can help save time and avoid user errors if you are making a large number of similar campaigns. Here's how it works:
TABLE OF CONTENTS
- Press the "Clone" button
- Which parameters are cloned?
- Cloning and phone number types
- Finish cloning
- Review your new campaign
Press the "Clone" button
Go to the campaign overview page and pick a campaign you want to clone. Then, click the three vertical dots under "Details" to open the flyout menu and then click "Clone".
You can also clone a campaign from the campaign overview page.
NOTE - If you are creating a cloned campaign with a newly uploaded group, please check that it has finished validating before launching your campaign.
Which parameters are cloned?
When you clone an existing campaign, the following campaign parameters will be brought over to the new campaign.
- Title (with the word clone added)
- Description
- Time Zone
- Daily Open Hours
- Organization ID
- Opt Out Language
- TCR Use Case
- Campaign Tags
- QuickSend setting (Sender step)
- Self-assign setting (Sender step)
- Initial Message
- Recommended Replies
- Survey Questions
- Phone number type (Single Use vs. Dedicated Number)
The following campaign parameters will NOT be brought over to the new campaign
- Initial Message Sending Window
- Targeting
- Senders
- Follow-up messages
- Specific area codes (Only Single Use Number campaigns)
Cloning and phone number types
ThruText uses two different types of sending phone numbers: Dedicated and Single-use. If you clone a campaign with a Single-use Number, the clone will be required to use a new Single-use number. if you clone a campaign with a Dedicated Number, the clone will be required to use a Dedicated Number (it can be the same Dedicated Number as the original campaign or a different Dedicated Number if your account has more than one).
Finish cloning
All of the parameters of the campaign you clone will be brought over into the new campaign you are creating. Details to note:
- The word "Cloned" will appear before the name of the new campaign. (The name can be edited.)
- A dedicated phone number or area code region will need to be selected. If you try to clone a dedicated phone number campaign, you can only use a dedicated phone number in the clone, and likewise for single-use numbers.
- Campaign Segments will need to be added to your new campaign.
- Senders on the first campaign will not be carried over to the new campaign. Adding senders before launching is optional. For more information on adding senders after launching, please review Campaign Pre-Loading guide.
Click on the desired field to make edits.
NOTE - Check your Start and End dates! The dates on your first campaign will carry over to your new campaign. Start dates and times cannot be edited after launch.
Once you finished making edits, press the "Next" button at the bottom of the page to hop over to the Review stage. (Don't worry, this will not launch your campaign.)
Review your new campaign
As with any campaign, on the Review page you can edit any aspect of the campaign. For example, you might want to go back and change the initial message script. Once you've completed your review and edits, just press launch like any other campaign, and you'll be off and running!
NOTE - If you are cloning a campaign that was created before September 2022, you may need to check and verify that the Organization Display name and Opt Out Language are present in your initial message before launching.
