Using both MyCampaign and MyVoters surveys on 1 campaign


For those using a VAN key, it is important to know that lists imported from VAN via the API can only sync to one side of your committee, either MyVoters or MyCampaign at a time. This is because VAN only sends the IDs from the committee side that the list was created in. To sync to both sides, ThruText needs to 'see' the VAN IDs for both MyVoters and MyCampaign.


To sync to both sides of VAN at the same time in ThruText, you will need to:

  1. Manually export your Saved List from VAN, making sure to include both the VAN ID and VAN Campaign ID fields, as well as any additional custom fields you want access to. 
  2. You will then need to create a new group, being sure to map both the VAN ID and VAN Campaign ID fields to their corresponding custom fields in ThruText (as well as any additional custom fields, if desired).
  3. When you use groups mapped to both sides of your VAN committee during campaign creation, you will be able to import survey questions from both sides. This will give you access to the My Voter and My Campaign survey questions, activist codes, events, and canvass results on the "Surveys" section of Campaign Creation Wizard.
  4. Launch your campaign and collect your data!


NOTE - Syncing to both sides of VAN is not available for ThruTalk.
